SEMESTER EXAMS Language – 80 marks 2 Hours 30 Mins Paper will be a combination of Paper 1 and Paper 2 ( Refer to IGCSE SYLLABUS GUIDE)
Grade 10 - Prelims and Boards LITERATURE Paper 1 1 hour 30 minutes Poetry and Prose 50% 50 marks Two questions on two texts: one poetry and one prose Externally assessed Paper 2 1 hour 30 minutes Drama 50% 50 marks Two questions on two texts Externally assessed
Grade 10 – Prelims and Boards- LANGUAGE Paper 2 Directed Writing and Composition Written paper, 2 hours, 80 marks Candidates answer two questions, one from each section. Paper 1 Reading Written paper, 2 hours, 80 marks Candidates answer three compulsory questions on three texts which may be on a similar topic. QUESTIONS- READING COMPREHENSION SUMMARY WRITERS EFFECT VOCABULARY EXTENDED RESPONSE
Assessment Objectives- AO’s- Literature AO1 Show detailed knowledge of the content of literary texts in the three main forms (drama, poetry and prose), supported by reference to the text. AO2 Understand the meanings of literary texts and their contexts and explore texts beyond surface meanings to show deeper awareness of ideas and attitudes. AO3 Recognise and appreciate ways in which writers use language, structure and form to create and shape meanings and effects. AO4 Communicate a sensitive and informed personal response to literary texts.
