Swedana This therapy is usually performed as a pre procedure before starting the detox therapy. Swedana is the process of inducing sweating with the help of steam, generated from medicated decoctions. Swed is nothing but sweat and the process of inducing sweating is called swedana .

Types of swedana Various types of swedana have been mentioned in ayurveda among which following are clinically important Nadi sweda - in this, steam of medicated decoctions is generated under pressure in an instrument connected to a tube through which the steam comes out and is used. Peti seda – in this the patient is allowed to sleep in specially designed chamber containing medicated vapors Pinda sweda In this process swedan is done with the help of specially made bundled warm medicinal puddings Avagaha sweda – this is similar to tub bath in which warm medicated decoctions a re used to induce sweating Parishek sweda – in this showering of hot decoctions is done on affected body parts.
