Introduction Of Agriculture Informatics Agriculture informatics is also known as Agri-Info. It is the application of information technology and data management to improve agricultural practices and outcomes. It involves use of digital tools, software's, data analysis and information systems to optimize various aspects of agriculture including crop management, livestock production, soil health and resource utilization.

Need of Agriculture Informatics India is worlds second largest producer of food grains, fruits and vegetables. India is second largest exporter of Sugar. 55% Indian population is dependent on agriculture. India has the worlds largest cattle herd(buffaloes)- largest milk, pulses, spices producer in the world. Second largest producer of fruits, vegetables, tea, farmed fish, cotton, wheat and rice. Indian food processing industry accounts for 32% of the country’s total food market, one of the largest industries in India and is ranked fifth in terms of production, consumption, export and expected growth. Still relies on traditional farming for most of the things. Needs upgradation.

In June 2023, Mother Dairy invested 400 Cr rupees to set up a unit in Nagpur.

In June,2022 government of India invested in kisan drones for crop assessment, digitization of land records and spraying of insecticides and nutrients. In August 2022, government invested in Indian council of Agriculture Research. Nestley India will invest 700 Cr in the construction of its ninth factory in Gujrat.
