2. 5.1 Internet Internet is one of the best inventions of the modern world. A network is a group of interconnected computers that allows sharing information The initial development of the internet started in 1969,by the us department of defence called Advanced Research Project Agency or ARPA. This organization created a computer network for its military use which they called the ARPANET.

3. Te r ms Related to the internet World Wide Web -is a group of interconnected pages that contain text,pictures,sound and vedio on the internet. A web browser is a program that allows you to find and view websi t es on the internet. A website is a group of related webpages that contain information. A webpage is part of a website. It has information and can have text,picture,sound,vedio,etc . The web address contains information about the location of the webpage. The address of web page is called the uniform resource locator or URL.

4. A hyperlink is a word, phrase or image that you can click on to jump to another website,or a different webpage on the same website. The first page which appear when you open a website is the home page.

5. 5.2 World Wide W eb The  HTTP   ( Hypertext Transfer Protocol )protocol governs data transfer between a server and a client. To access a Web component, a client supplies a unique universal identifier, called a  URL  (uniform resource locator) or  URI  (uniform resource identifier) (formally called Universal Document Identifier (UDI)). HTML  (hypertext markup language) is the most common format for publishing web documents.

6. The browser sends an HTTP request message to the server, asking it to send a copy of the website to the client (you go to the shop and order your goods). This message, and all other data sent between the client and the server, is sent across your internet connection using TCP/IP .

7. The internet is global network that uses TCP/IP (Transmission control protocol) protocol to connect millions of computers worldwide. An Intranet is a part of the internet and is owned and used privately by an organization. Internet applications are communication and Web Browsing, Social Media, e-commerce, entertainment and streaming, and cloud computing services . An intranet application is basically an internal database which every employee can access with different permissions for various staff
