JOSE RIZAL AND THE PHILIPPINE NATIONALISM:

BAYANI & KABAYANIHAN A HERO or BAYANI in tagalog is somebody that saves lives The essential trait of the hero is BRAVERY.

Example of Philippine National Heroes:

José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda was a Filipino nationalist and polymath during the tail end of the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines. He is considered the national hero of the Philippines . Jose Rizal

Antonio Narciso Luna de San Pedro y Novicio Ancheta was a Filipino army general who fought in the Spanish–American War, Philippine Revolution, and Philippine–American War before his assassination in 1899. General Antonio Luna

➢Emilio Aguinaldo y Famy a Filipino revolutionary, statesman, and military leader who is officially recognized as the first and the youngest president of the Philippines and the first president of a constitutional republic in Asia. President Emilio Aguinaldo

Being called a hero does not require sacrificing his/her life for the cause or the country. Simple acts of serving people are acts of “KABAYANIHAN” and that makes a person “BAYANI” at present.

He fought and sacrificed himself for the freedom of our nation He was brave enough to write and express his thoughts against the abusive Spanish colonials that enlightened the minds of the Filipino people, resulting in the Philippine Revolution and later acquiring our independence and freedom

Examples of written works of Rizal ➢ Noli Me Tangere - Noli Me Tángere is an 1887 novel by José Rizal during the colonization of the Philippines by the Spanish Empire, to describe perceived inequities of the Spanish Catholic friars and the ruling government.

➢ El Filibusterismo - El filibusterismo , also known by its alternative English title The Reign of Greed, is the second novel written by Philippine national hero José Rizal. It is the sequel to Noli Me Tángere and, like the first book, was written in Spanish.

La solidaridad is published in Barcelona. It contributed a poems, essays, allegories and editorials to the Spanish newspaper.

Among his best works, two novels stood out. The Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo These novels inspired and awakened the sleeping nationalism of the Filipino people. Rizal was executed for the crime of rebellion and the P hilippine Revolution, inspired by his parts of writing.

Community Development Rizal developed dapitan first park, complete with street lamps and a garden in island of Mindanao He built a one doctor hospital and people of dapitan were not charge for any consultation

Jose Rizal is not only admired for possessing intellectual brilliance but also for taking a stand and resisting the Spanish colonial government Rizal always remembered for his compassion and towards the Filipino people and country.

Rizal Awakened the Mind and perspectives of Filipinos toward Nationalism. As more Filipinos read the books ,their eyes are opened to truth that they were suffering unspeakable abuses in the hands of the friars.
