1 HOOGHLY ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE Presentation on : Bernoulli’s Principle and applications By Tanumoy Dey , Dept. : CIVIL ENGINEERING

The History of Bernoulli’s Principle Daniel Bernoulli (1700-1782) The Swiss mathematician and physicist discovered the Bernoulli's principle. He found the concept of Bernoulli’s principle when doing the experiment of water flow through the container. 2

Bernoulli’s Equation Where p is the pressure, ρ is the density, v is the velocity, h is elevation, and g is gravitational acceleration “Bernoulli's theorem states that in a steady, ideal flow of an incompressible fluid, the total energy at any point of the fluid is constant” . 3

Velocity of fluid at a narrow passage is faster than at a broad passage. As the velocity increases, the pressure decreases (Bernoulli’s Principle) Explanation 4

Venturi Tube A 2 < A 1 ; V 2 > V 1 According to Bernoulli’s Law, pressure at A 2 is lower. 6

Using Bernoulli’s principle, we find that the speed of fluid coming from a spigot on an open tank is: This is called Torricelli’s theorem. Determining the velocity and debit of water spray in perforated tank 7
