Yoga Through Appreciating the Opulences of Shri Bhagavan By sincerely and constantly studying this chapter, one will understand that Shri Krishna is the basis of all vibhutis ( opulences ) and saktis (energies). The entire material universe with all its opulences is just one quarter of His majesty. When one attains knowledge o the vibhutis, one can easily understand that everything is directly or indirectly related to Bhagavan. Bhagavan bestows buddhi-yoga upon His bhaktas so that they attain tattva-jnana. In this way, thei ignorance is destroyed and they engage in bhajana with love (priti). Why Krishna presenting his OPULENCES ? Like a Powerful & Influential person telling Arjuna what he has created and what he is.

GITA Ch 10 1. One Who Understands Krishna’s Unknowable Position and Serves Him (10. 1-7).

To make this even clearer, Krishna’s will now speak the catuh sloki . A. Anyone knowing Krishna’s as the unborn Lord and the source of all sages and demigods is undeluded and free from all sins. (10.-3) B.All qualities and attitudes are created by Krishna’s. Even the progenitors come from His mind (10.4-6). C. Those who know Krishna’s’s glories engage in devotional service (10.7) Because the knowledge is not different from Krishna’s it increases one’s devotion for Him, or gives it if one has none. 1 .about to tell him some very important information, and He really wants to make sure that Arjuna is fully attentive. 2 . The demigods and sages don’t know this. Why? Because Krishna is the source of them. Such things can only be known by His mercy. 3 .Krishna’s will now make contrasts between Himself and the sages and demigods. 10.4-5. Important qualities, but one cannot know Him through them directly, because He's their source. 6. All these great persons also don't understand Krishna’s, because He is their source. 10.7 . One who knows these things becomes inspired in devotional service, and thus can approach Krishna. Through knowing these things one gets the faith in Krishna’s to surrender to Him. Idea is that one has to hear from Krishna’s about Himself (or from His devotees) if one is to understand Him. Otherwise no matter who you are or what your qualifications are you won't be able to 1 . D-And while meditating, in what forms can I think of you, 10.18 - “Why are you again and again asking? I have already explained “aham sarvasya.--- Arjuna replies “that was just the seed. By Your sweet teachings You have created in me a greed to hear about You, and because of that You are making me beg You again and again. My ears have become like tongues, and they long to taste more of this nectar4. BHAGAVAD GITA Study by Bhakticaru Swami 1. Arjuna is very deeply affected and glorifies Krishna very beautifully, citing previous authorities. Then he finally really surrenders to Krishna (10.12-15) 2. GITA Ch 10 4. Krishna’s Opulences (19-42)

4. Krishna’s Opulences (19-42) The idea is that when one sees these things one will realize that they are so exceptional that only God could be responsible for their existing. Read from 10.33. “A” is included in all letters The womanly qualities are actually all female persons. He is even the gambling of cheats 39. The idea is that one can see everything related to Him. 40. 41-42. Actually all this is quite insignificant. With just a tiny part of Himself Lord Krishna is sustaining everything in existence. 19. Krishna addresses Arjuna as “hanta”. This is a particularly endearing term, something like “darling” , and indicates Krishna’s extreme feelings of mercy towards Arjuna.. A. Krishna agrees to describe His opulences to some extent (10.19). B. . Krishna’s opulences, presents in a list of groups (10.20-38) C. Krishna sums up (10.39-42) . The Lord is all-pervading by the expansion of His partial representation, the Supersoul, who enters into everything that is. Pure devotees, therefore, concentrate their minds in Krsna consciousness in full devotional servic Bhagvad gita Study by Bhakti Caitanya Swami Gita - Chapter 10 - Outline of sections 1 . Of all the trees, the fig tree (ficus religiosa) is looked upon as a manifestation of the glory of God. It is also the center of so many rituals that are supposed to yield the desired fruits. The word Ashwatha is also broken up as "A," Shwa, and Tha, which means "nothing for tomorrow." Symbolically, this means that the aspirant attains Self-knowledge and is not required to be born again. { http://www.americanyogaassociation.org/Rama%20Gita%2013.html

What is the meaning of Ashvattha Tree ? GITA Ch 15 , Verse 1 Asvattham : 'svah’ means 'tomorrow,' and ‘na sthah’ means 'not existing'. So Ashvattha means 'not existing tomorrow’ It continues till the moment when true knowledge is attained. It stops and disappears then. So it is in one sense imperishable and inanother sense perishable. It is rightly described as ‘Asvatthah’, because of its perishable and mutable character. But it is described here as 'avyayam'-not perishing. How ? The explanation is, here Samsara, like a flood, flows ceaselessly, birth and death occurring in an endless series for man. This tree of Samsara is of doubtful existence. No one can say whether it exists the next day or even the next hour, or even the next minute. It is perishable. { Gita Makarandam

becomes manifest again and again into a tree GITA CH 10, v 39 A big tree --- with many branches, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds --- remains inside a tiny seed in unmanifest form Similarly, all manifestations remain in the Absolute in unmanifest form become manifest during creation and unmanifest during dissolution again and again.
