Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), also known as the Indian Penal Code, is a comprehensive law that defines criminal offences and prescribes punishments for them. It is a cornerstone of the Indian legal system, and its modernization is a significant step towards ensuring justice and upholding the rule of law.

WHAT WAS THE NEED? 1 Modernizing Outdated Provisions The BNS aims to shed the colonial baggage of the 160-year-old Indian Penal Code (IPC), aligning criminal law with Indian values and ethos.
