BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE & BUSINESS OBJECTS

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE(BI) Business intelligence (BI) is a broad category of applications and technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing, and providing access to data to help enterprise users make better business decisions . BI applications include the activities of decision support systems,  query and reporting, online analytical processing (OLAP), statistical analysis, forecasting and data mining. BUSINESS OBJECT(BO) A business object is a representation of a thing active in the business domain, including at least its business name and definition, attributes, behavior, relationships and constraints . A business object may be a person, place or concept The representation may be in a natural language, a modeling language, or a programming language.

Business intelligence, is an umbrella term that refers to a variety of software applications used to analyze an organization’s raw data. BI as a discipline is made up of several related activities, including data mining, online analytical processing, querying and reporting. BI in SAP SAP delivers pre-configured role and task-based information models and reporting scenarios for SAP BW that are based on consistent metadata. SAP BI Business Content offers selected roles in a company the information they need to carry out their tasks. The information models delivered cover all business areas and integrate content from almost all SAP and selected external applications.  ROLES

Business object technology and business object programming are based on the concept of "business objects". Real world objects, for example an employee or a sales order, are modeled as business objects in business application systems, such as the R/3 System. We can visualize the SAP Business Objects as "black boxes" that encapsulate R/3 data and business processes, thus hiding the details of the structure and implementation of the underlying data. STRUCTURE To achieve this encapsulation, the SAP Business Objects are constructed as entities with multiple layers: Core layer: Kernel S econd layer: Integrity layer T hird layer: Interface layer F ourth and outermost layer: Business Object is the access layer BO in SAP

Enterprise structure of Business Objects

Data tier It  is made up of databases that feed data used for reports. SAP Business Objects Enterprise (BOE) XI Architecture Client tier  In client tier  SAP BO is the only tier that consist applications which interact with end user for administration, publishing and viewing of reports and other objects. Application tier  It is the tier that hosts server side components to handle user requests from Client tier and pass to Intelligence tier of underlying system for processing. Processing tier  It interacts directly with database and generates reports. Intelligence tier  It is heart of Business Objects Enterprise system. It handles user requests, navigates them to appropriate server, maintain security information, audit information and stores report instances.

JOB role of SAP BI CONSULTANT SAP Business Intelligence (BI) Consultant will be involved in various Projects, goal is to help the client to optimize processes and to determine the information The BI Consultant role has a broad range of responsibilities and may require multiple individuals to satisfy the role depending on the scope of the BI project and the complexity and quality of the data.   If SAP R/3 and New Dimension data only is required to satisfy requirements and if this data is included in the standard Business Content of BW, this role may be combined with the BW Application Consultant role. This standard Business Content allows for extraction of R/3 and New Dimension data in a straightforward and rapid manner The BI Data Consultant is responsible to identify and obtain the data required to satisfy the requirements of the BI project. This data may include: SAP R/3 data New Dimension product data Data external to SAP within the organization Data external to SAP from outside the organization

Supervising process and functional design activities Creating functional requirements as an input to application design Developing and testing detailed functional designs for business solution components and prototypes Performing/supervising application build, test, and deploy activities Planning and executing data conversion activities (e.g., test data) Driving test planning and execution Training of internal staff on the SAP Business Objects Toolset SAP Business Objects professionals design, implement and deploy SAP business intelligence solutions, applications and technologies which are used to gather, provide access to, and analyze data and information about company operations for end-to-end data warehousing and analytics. CONCLUSION SAP BIBO modules are more of related to technical sector and of course functional sector also. These BIBO modules are integrated with each other modules. The scope for BIBO module is very good, but it need technical skills, professional who has technical background exists in the industry. According to PAYSCALE.com INDEED.com, LINKEDIN.com and ITJOBSWATCH.com the opportunities are huge in technical sector like software companies etc. Of course there are opportunities in other companies like FMCGS, supply chain companies also. The pay scale range for both BI BO module are almost same, it is increasing from year to year, compare to previous the salaries are increased slightly between 1-3% in current year This data is according to the http://payscale.com , http://itjobswatch.com etc.
