Fast Facts About ARSL The Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) has been dedicated to meeting the needs of libraries serving rural and small communities since 1984 . 2024 marks our 40 th anniversary! ARSL has more than 2,800 members representing every state in the US and several provinces in Canada! The 2023 ARSL Conference was our largest in-person gathering to date, with more than 1,000 library workers and supporters in attendance! As of this month ARSL has provided more than $1M in grant funding and conference scholarships to libraries nationwide!
Mission ARSL builds strong communities through advocacy, professional development, and elevating the impact of rural and small libraries. Vision As the premier organization representing rural and small libraries, ARSL recognizes the uniqueness of small and rural libraries and is committed to providing an environment that encourages excellence within this community of practice, supporting their goals of service and speaking on behalf of this important constituency.
