Bio of Katherine Mansfield

Katherine Mansfield (1888–1923) was a well-known short story writer in the twentieth
century. By experimenting with style, subject matter, and topic in a body of work that re-
defined the genre, she helped to shape modernism. She published letters, reviews, and
journals in addition to short tales, and her productive career was cut short by her unexpected
death at the age of 34. She was an active supporter of podcast storytelling, using it to tell
stories that focused on character development rather than plot fiction. Mansfield likewise
struggled to break away from her wealthy family's dominance and the expectations placed on
women of her social class. Katherine Mansfield's one of the short tales "The Garden Party"
was published in 1922. The work is written in modernism, with no fixed framework and
several narrative twists. Mansfield was seen as a founder of the short story genre. Its elegant
setting is inspired by Mansfield's native house in Wellington, where she and her family
stayed.
