Facts about Dmitri Mendeleev Name: Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleyev. Birth date: February 8, 1834. Birthplace: Tobolsk , Russia. Family : father(Ivan Pavlovich Mendeleev) mother (Mariya Dmitriyevna Kornileva ) sister (Masha Mendeleeva ). Spouses: Feozva Nikitichna (former spouse),Anna Ivanova(spouse). Education : Saint Petersburg State University. Death : at the age of 72 he died in Saint Petersburg, Russia on February 2, 1907.
Introduction Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev was a Russian chemist and inventor. He was the inventor of periodic table; he is the most important contributor to the development of the periodic table. His version of the periodic table organized elements into rows according to their atomic mass and into columns based on chemical and physical properties. Early years As a kid Dmitri went through a lot, His family faced one crisis after another. When Dmitri was little, his father went blind and his mother went to work. She became the manager of a successful glass factory. Tragedy struck again in 1848, when the factory burned down, and the family faced poverty. Mendeleev’s mother was set on to get him an education, she even traveled with him to different places so that her son can become successful. Sadly, after10days his mother passed away due to tuberculosis, a disease that had also taken his father.
Teaching and schooling Mendeleev graduated in 1855 from St. Petersburg university. which was located in Russia. He got his first teaching position at Simferopol in Crimea. He stayed there only two months and, after a short time he decided to go back to St. Petersburg to continue his education. He received a master’s degree in 1856 and then later went to study abroad, In 1861 Mendeleev returned to St. Petersburg, where he obtained a professorship at the Technological Institute in 1864. After the defense of his doctoral dissertation in 1865 he was appointed professor of chemical technology at the University of St. Petersburg, he continued there until 1890.

More about Dmitri Mendeleev He was known for his long beard and long hair. Other than chemistry, Dmitri was also interested in art and economics. Mendeleev's name is on a list of famous people who worked at the Simferopol School, Crimea. In order to earn money, he started writing articles on popular science and technology for journals. He wrote projects to develop a coal industry in the Donets Basin, and he traveled to both Baku in Azerbaijan and to Pennsylvania in the United States in order to learn more about the petroleum industry.
