Birds Trogon

Elegant Trogon The  elegant trogon  ( Trogon elegans ) (formerly the "coppery-tailed" trogon), is a  near passerine   bird  in the  trogon  family. [2]  Along with the  eared quetzal , it is the most poleward -occurring species of trogon in the world, ranging from Guatemala in the south as far north as the upper  Gila River  in  Arizona  and  New Mexico . The most northerly populations of subspecies  ambiguus  are partially migratory, [3]  and the species is occasionally found as a vagrant in southeasternmost and western  Texas .

Cuban Trogon The  Cuban trogon  or  tocororo  ( Priotelus temnurus ) is a species of  bird  in the family  Trogonidae . It is  endemic  to  Cuba , where it is also the  national bird . Its natural  habitats  are  dry forests ,  moist forests , and heavily degraded former forest.

violaceous trogon Violaceous trogon  has been split into the following species: Guianan trogon ,  Trogon violaceus Gartered trogon ,  Trogon caligatus Amazonian trogon ,  Trogon ramonianus

Masked Trogon The  masked trogon  ( Trogon personatus ) is a species of  bird  in the family  Trogonidae . It is fairly common in humid highland forests in  South America , mainly the  Andes  and  tepuis .

Red Headed Trogon The red-headed trogon ( Harpactes erythrocephalus ) is a dimorphic arboreal bird, belonging to the family of trogons and quetzals, Trogonidae . These trogon species are distributed in Northeast India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia and southern China.

Slaty tailed trogon The  slaty -tailed trogon  ( Trogon massena ) is a  near passerine   bird  in the  trogon  family, Trogonidae . It breeds in lowlands from southeastern  Mexico  south through  Central America , to  Colombia , and a small region of northwestern  Ecuador .

Malabar Trogon The  Malabar trogon  ( Harpactes fasciatus ) is a species of bird in the  trogon  family. It is found in the forests of  Sri Lanka  and peninsular India. In India it is mainly found in the  Western Ghats , hill forests of central India and in parts of the  Eastern Ghats . They are insectivorous and although not migratory, may move seasonally in response to rain in hill forest regions. Like in other trogons, males and females vary in plumage. The birds utter low guttural calls that can be heard only at close quarters and the birds perch still on a branch under the forest canopy, often facing away from the viewer making them easy to miss despite their colourful plumage.

Narina Trogon The  Narina trogon  ( Apaloderma narina ) is a largely green and red, medium-sized (32–34 cm long), bird of the family  Trogonidae . It is native to forests and woodlands of the  Afrotropics . Though it is the most widespread and catholic in habitat choice of the three  Apaloderma  species, their numbers are locally depleted due to deforestation. [2]  Some populations are sedentary while others undertake regular movements. The species name commemorates Narina , mistress of French  ornithologist   François Levaillant , whose name he derived from a  Khoikhoi  word for "flower", [3]  as her given name was difficult to pronounce

Phillipine Trogon The  Philippine trogon  ( Harpactes ardens ) is a species of  bird  in the family  Trogonidae . It is  endemic  to the  Philippines .
