The BJP was largely considered a party of North India, and despite having formed the government in Karnataka multiple times, it has never been seriously
considered an option by voters in the southern states. However, due to its sheer organizational capabilities and ability to connect with the people, its

presence is growing. The party is quietly and gradually making inroads into Telangana, a state where it has traditionally been sidelined.
In Telangana, the BJP made notable strides by capturing the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates' MLC seat from Congress. Malka
Komaraiah, supported by the BJP, secured the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Teachers' constituency, taking the seat from the ruling Congress
party. BJP candidate C Anji Reddy triumphed over Congress' V Narender Reddy, securing victory through second-preference votes after a rigorous
counting process.

This signifies that the party is making deep inroads into this southern state, which has historically been governed either by Congress or regional parties like
TDP in the united Andhra Pradesh, or TRS, which later rebranded itself as BRS in the newly formed Telangana.
Gains in the 2023 Assembly Election:
In the 2023 assembly elections, which Congress won to form its government, dethroning K. Chandrashekar Rao, the BJP emerged as the third-largest
party with 8 seats and a 14% vote share. This was a significant gain for the party, which had won just 1 seat and secured a 7.1% vote share in the 2018
assembly election. This means that in just five years, the BJP was able to double its vote share.
2024 Lok Sabha Election - Performance:
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP contested in 17 seats and won 8, while finishing second in 7. This was a major improvement for the party in this
state. Comparatively, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP also contested 17 seats but won only 4, finishing third in 9 seats.
