The marker’s comment There are STILL learners who write essays in bullet form. Also, some STILL write headings. Fix It! The evidence used in your essay should be written in full sentences and presented in paragraphs. History essays do not make use of headings. Each paragraph should present a different point to support your argument. Use the evidence (facts) to support this point. You use the evidence to develop a line of argument.

The marker’s comment Learners are writing stock essays FIX IT! It's not advisable BUT if stock essays are given… Practice how to use stock essays as a foundation from where you develop and build your own essay. Do this by answering the specific question, with a stance and line of argument.

How to write a well-structured paragraph using PEEL Point Explain Evidence Link The opening sentence of your paragraph must make a clear statement or point. The next sentence in your paragraph should explain the point you have just made. The next few sentences should give evidence* (facts) to substantiate(support) the statement [POINT] you have made. At the end of your paragraph, you must link back to the essay question or forward to the next paragraph. *This EVIDENCE could be dates, details, facts, figures

More than any other individual, Malcom X was the intellectual father of ‘Black Power’. Malcolm X was a fiery speaker who gained a large following among young urban blacks and impacted how they viewed themselves. Malcolm X urged blacks to be proud of their heritage and their African roots. Instead of non-racialism and integration he called for Black Nationalism and strongly promoted separatism and self-reliance. He argued for violence in the name of self-defense against racist groups and this appealed to Blacks who were suffering. Malcolm X called for revolution and was critical of MLK’s calls for reform because he believed the slow pace of change held black people back. Although his extreme ideas were not supported by all Americans, Malcolm X was a leading figure in successfully instilling black pride among African Americans in the 1960s.
