Rule 18.4 CD-ROM and Other Electronic Storage Media Print Preferred If the information is originally in print, like a book or article, use that as your citation. If you find the information on a CD-ROM or electronic medium, try to cite the print version if it exists. If not, then cite the electronic version.

Citation Format When citing from a CD-ROM or similar electronic media Mention the name of the Author Include the title of what you're citing. Mention who published the CD-ROM. Include the version of the CD-ROM that you used. If possible, include the date of the material or the version you accessed.

Example LAWRENCE P. KING, COLLIER ON BANKRUPTCY ¶ 700.02 (Matthew Bender Authority Bankruptcy Law CD-ROM, rel. 13, Aug. 1999 ).

18.5 Microform Microform refers to a method of storing documents, typically on film or paper, in a greatly reduced size. This reduction allows for the efficient storage of large amounts of information in a compact format.

18.5.1 Microform Collections Reproducing pre-existing Materials If a document is reproduced in microform you don't always need to mention it unless it's hard for someone to find the original source. When citing something as "micro formed on" a service : Give a full citation for the original document.

Conti …. - Provide a separate citation for the microform, following the guidelines for related authority in rule 1.6 . If the microform service uses unique codes for each document, include that code to help others locate it . Put the name of the microform service's publisher in parentheses, with an abbreviation following rule 15.1(d).

Examples CAL. CODE REGS. tit. 26, § 23-2631(g) (Barclay's 1990), micro formed on Cal. Code of Reg. 1990 Revised Format, Fiche 143 (Univ. Microforms Int‘l) APPLICATION OF EMPLOYER SANCTIONS TO LONGSHORE WORK, H.R. REP. NO. 1O1-2O8 (1989), micro formed on CIS NO. 89-H523-17 (CONG. INFO. SERV.)

18.5.2 Microform Collections Containing Original Materials When a microform collection contains materials original to that collection, identify the microform set and its publisher, and use the publisher's system for identifying individual forms within the set .
