About This Presentation

This is a synopsis of Boisar Bus Depo and the live case study conducted to determine the challenges associated with it. This study was created for the NASA Architectural Competition.

BOISAR BUS DEPOT
FOLLOWING REASONS FOR INCREASE IN FOOTFALL -
●Boisar is the largest industrial suburb in the Mumbai
Metropolitan Region in the Indian state of Maharashtra
which increases the threat of more covid cases entering the
town.
●Boisar is known for its industrial hub and most industries
(especially chemical, pharmaceutical, textile and
mechanical companies)

offer internship and apprenticeship
programs to college undergraduates and postgraduates.
Banks and hospitals also provide work experience for
students and professionals.
●The existence of more than 1500 industrial units.
●Medical workers working in the suburbs of mumbai being
called at work.

STRENGTH - INDUSTRIAL HUB, THEREFORE A LOT OF EXPORTS ARE DEPENDENT.
-GOVT. OPERATES BUSES FOR EMPLOYEES OF NUKE PLANT.

WEAKNESS- SITE IS LOCATED IN LOW LYING AREA.
-VERY POOR INFRASTRUCTURE.
- SAFETY ISSUES IN AND AROUND THE SITE DUE OF LACK OF SECURITY

OPPORTUNITY- LOCAL TRANSPORT (i.e auto rickshaws) DON’T HAVE METER SYSTEM HENCE PEOPLE MIGHT OPT
FOR BUSES IN FUTURE
- GOVT. HAS PROPOSED A NUMBER OF NEW PROJECTS IN THE UPCOMING
YEARS,(FOR EXAMPLE - BULLET TRAIN STATION, TARAPUR PORT, ETC)
HENCE SCOPE FOR INCREASE IN FOOTFALL.

THREAT- SITE HAS DANGER OF NUCLEAR LEAK (RADIOACTIVE PARTICLES) AND CHEMICAL
LEAKS FROM INDUSTRIES (PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES/ MIDC TARAPUR).
BOISAR FACED LOTS OF FIRE BREAKOUTS AND BLASTS IN COMPANIES IN PAST FEW YEARS.

●The Boisar lies on 18m above sea level.
●The climate here is tropical.
●The average annual temperature in Boisar is 26.5 °C.
● The annual rainfall is 2139 mm | 84.2 inch.
●The driest month is February, with 0 mm | 0.0 inch of
rain.
● In July, the precipitation reaches its peak, with an
