What is a review? A review is an evaluation of a film, book, service, company, music, television programmes , computer games, places, products, theater performance.. etc It evaluates the topic in question based on its strengths and weaknesses , ending with a recommendation or a dismissal.
What is the purpose of reviews? To give your judgment about something. To evaluate or assess the overall quality of something and determine whether or not it’s worth recommending . To inform\describe\entertain\ analyse \advise
What is the purpose of reviews? Evaluation : A book review provides a critical evaluation of the book, assessing its strengths and weaknesses, and offering an informed opinion about its quality . Recommendation : It helps potential readers decide whether or not to read the book by offering a recommendation based on the reviewer’s analysis. Summary : A book review often summarizes the book’s content, providing a concise overview of the plot, themes, and key ideas. Engagement : Reviews engage readers in discussions about the book’s themes, characters, and messages, often sparking further analysis and thought. Feedback to Authors : A review offers feedback to the author, highlighting aspects that worked well or areas that might need improvement
How to write a review? 1 st paragraph: Gives general information about the book. 2 nd paragraph: Get more into details {facts} 3 rd paragraph: What you like the most about the book. {Opinion} 4 th paragraph: What you most didn’t like about the book. {Opinion} 5 th paragraph: Overall feeling + recommendation .
1 st paragraph 1 st paragraph: Gives general information about (e.g. film) Name of the book or the author\ year\ genre.. ‘It shows u like the film’
2 nd paragraph 2 nd paragraph: Gives detailed information (e.g. film) -The book summary / No spoilers

5 th paragraph 5 th paragraph: Overall feeling and recommendation Overall feeling and recommendation
Features: 1- gives a concise summary of the content. 2- Contains both facts and opinions. 3- Present tense. (mainly) 4- Offers a critical assessment of the content in relation to other studies on the same topic. 5-Analyses content’s strengths or weaknesses. 6-Use vocabulary specifically related to the content. 7-Use a variety of adjectives and descriptive phrases to make the review more interesting to the readers.
