WORKING OF HYDRAULIC BRAKE

ADVANTAG E S O F H Y DRAULI C BRAKES ▶ Equa l brak i ng effort to a l l the four whe e ls ▶ Less rate of wear ▶ Better stopping power than the other brakes

DISA D VANTAG E S O F H YDRAULIC BRAKES Complex construction Even slight leakage of air into the breaking system m a kes i t usele s s. More maintenance than other system

DIS C BRA K ES A disc brake is a type of brake that uses the calipers to squeeze pairs of pads against a disc or a rotor to create friction. T he p i sto n i n turn s q ueezes two bra k e pads a g a i nst the d i s c (rotor ) , which is attached to wheel, forcing i t to slo w down or s top.

DRU M BRAKES ▶ The dru m br a ke has a m etal brak e dru m that e n cl o s e s the brak e as s embly a t each wheel. ▶ Two curved brak e shoes expand o u tward to slo w o r sto p the dru m wh i ch rotat e s w i th the whe e l.

WORKING O F DRU M BRAKES ▶ D r um brak e s wor k on t he sam e pr i n c i p l e a s t he dis c br a k e s. ▶ S h oes pres s a g ai nst a ro t a t i ng s urfac e. ▶ I n t h i s sys t em t hat s ur f ac e i s ca l l ed a dru m . ▶ D r um brak e a l s o has a n adjus t er m e c h an i sm , an e m e rg e ncy brak e m e chan i s m an d l o t s of spr i n g s . ▶ The shoes are pulled away from the drum by the springs when the brakes are released.
