Doom- Found in Assam region. Black body colour with short and concave snout. Body weight-36-50 kg.
Tenyi Vo/Suho pig/Votho pig Home tract- Nagaland Hairy with black body coat sometimes white striped on neck, shoulder and forehead. Strong and long tapering snout, small erect ears. Body weight=35-50 kg
Zovawk Breed of Mizoram Black with white spot on forehead, belly region. Long bristles on mid line are characteristic feature. Body weight=54-60 kg.
Ghungroo Native- West Bengal. Black colour with typical bull dog face appearance. Highly prolific breed (6-12 litter size) sometimes litter size may be 17.
Nicobari Origin from Andaman & Nicobar. Blackish to brown colour with short sized breed. Dressing %=70-80%. Body weight= 175-200 kg. Very sustain under low managemental conditions.
Niang Megha Native = Meghalaya . Typical wild look. Solid black to black with white patches on forehead, legs.
Agonda Goan Breed of Goa. Black colour. Short snout, white marking on face, legs. Good mothering ability(teats=12). Hot and humid climate suitable.
Registered newly breed(20 th Census-2019 ) Mali- Origin – Tripura. Black colour with thick coarse long hair. Compact body. Short legs & long tail. Strong mothering ability. Purnea- Origin – Jharkhand Black coat colour and medium sized breed. Compact body. Round face, thick-concave snout. Body weight=40-50 kg.
Large White Yorkshire(LWY) White colour with black pigments known as freckles. It don’t considered as defect. Broad snout . Yorkshire sows have good mothering ability. Body weight= 300-450 kg(boar), 250-350 kg(sow).
Middle White Yorkshire (MWY) Develop by crossing between LWY & SWY. Excellent pork quality. Short snout . MWY used in India for improving indigenous stock. White coat colour. BW= 270-360 kg (boar).
Berkshire Black in colour with six white points that is on feet, nose and tail. Good width and broad back, ham and shoulders are well fleshed. Short unturned nose, erect ears. Medium sized breed. Good quality meat. BW= 270-320 kg.
Landrace Longer snout, drooping ears. Medium sized breed . White in colour with black skin spot ‘freckles. Longer body, skin without wrinkles. Excellent bacon breed and good prolific.
Hampshire Head and tail are black. Smaller breed. Short legs with erect ears. Meat type midway between bacon and lard type. BW= 250-320 kg.
Tamworth Golden red colour , varies from light to dark. Extremely good bacon type. Widely used for cross-breeding purposes in Southeast Asia. Individuals are long-legged with long, smooth sides and strong backs.
Duroc Most popular U.S. breed. Golden to cherry red coloured . Excellent rate of gain and feed efficiency. Sow has large litter and is a good mother. BW= 350-400 kg.
Chester White Whitish colour with some bluish spots on skin sometimes found. Good feeders, early mature.
Hereford Newer breed of swine. Colour marking similar to Hereford cattle , 2/3 rd red in colour either light or dark with constant white face. Smaller than other breed.
