Civil Liberties Liberty is the state of being free from restrictions imposed by authority. Unrestricted freedom of the individual to do anything s/he likes to do. But this sort of freedom is not possible in society. Restriction are necessary in the interest of general welfare. The liberty which each individual enjoys as a member of the society is called civil liberty.
Contd… It also protect people from government improper actions. It is enjoyed only under some restrictions (Laws and Rules) imposed by the state and society. Civil Liberties has two features 1. State Guarantees Civil Liberty: Civil liberty means liberty under law. states imposes such reasonable restraints as necessary for the enjoyment of liberty by the people.

Civil liberty also stands for the protection of Rights and freedom from undue interferences : It involves the concept of limiting the possibilities of violation of the rights of the people by the government. This is ensured by granting and guaranteeing the fundamental rights of the people.
