AESTHETIC IN
PHILOSOPHY By: Paulline Cabuhay Brown Aesthetic Project Presentation Page 1 of 7

??????aesthetics, came from the word "esthetics"the philosophical study of
beauty and taste.
?????? Aristotle and Plato addressed aesthetic theory.
??????Plato's view, the artist strives to be like a photocopy machine, producing
exact copies of particular things, without even thinking about their essential
nature.
?????? Aristotle, on the other hand, the art of imitation doesn't consist in
producing mindless copies of particular things in the world. WHAT IS AESTHETIC IN PHILOSOPHY? Brown Aesthetic Project Presentation Page 2 of 7

??????Aesthetics (also spelled esthetics) is the branch of
philosophy concerned with the nature of beauty and
the nature of taste.
??????Aesthetics examines the philosophy of aesthetic
value, which is determined by critical judgments of
artistic taste.
?????? the function of aesthetics is the "critical
reflection on art, culture and nature". Brown Aesthetic Project Presentation Page 3 of 7

??????Aesthetics studies natural and artificial sources of
experiences and how people form a judgment about
those sources of experience.
??????considers what happens in our minds when we
engage with objects or environments . Brown Aesthetic Project Presentation Page 4 of 7

??????The philosophy of art specifically studies how artists
imagine, create, and perform works of art, as well as how
people use, enjoy, and criticize art.
??????Aesthetics considers why people like some works of art
and not others, as well as how art can affect our moods and
our beliefs.
??????aesthetics and the philosophy of art try to find answers to
that exactly is art and what makes good art. Brown Aesthetic Project Presentation Page 5 of 7

One of the example is the art called
Mona lisa one of the art of Leonardo
Da Vinci
It portrays a woman with enigmatic smile
that often interpreted as a representation
of emotional depth and complexity,
highlighting the ability of art to express
emotions in ways that words cannot. MONA LISA Brown Aesthetic Project Presentation Page 6 of 7

VINCENT VAN GOGH'S PAINTING "STARRY
NIGHT." THE SWIRLING PATTERNS OF THE
SKY, VIBRANT COLORS, AND DYNAMIC
BRUSHSTROKES CREATE A SENSE OF
MOVEMENT AND EMOTION. VIEWERS OFTEN
REPORT FEELING A SENSE OF WONDER OR
INTROSPECTION WHEN OBSERVING THE
PAINTING. THIS AESTHETIC EXPERIENCE IS A
KEY FUNCTION OF THE ARTWORK, AS IT
ALLOWS INDIVIDUALS TO ENGAGE WITH
THEIR FEELINGS AND PERCEPTIONS,
APPRECIATING BEAUTY AND COMPLEXITY IN
A WAY THAT TRANSCENDS MERE
REPRESENTATION. Brown Aesthetic Project Presentation Page 7 of 7
