Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa. DEFINITION

Elbow. Shoulder. Knee. Hip. SITES OF BURSITIS

Infections. Age. Gout. Rheumatic arthritis. Diabetes. Obesity. ETIOLOGY

Due to etiological factors. Infection and inflammation. Pain and swelling. PATHOPHYSIOLOGY

Pain. Fever. Edema. Tenderness. Trouble moving the joints. CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS

History collection. Physical examination. X- ray shows calcified bursa. Biopsy : to rule out the causes. DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION

MEDICAL MANAGEMENT : Salicylates or NSAIDS e.g. : ibuprofen, Aspirin. Corticosteroids : e.g.: prednisone MANAGEMENT

Proper rest. Ice compress. Educate the proper intake of medications. Educate the patient to reduce body weight. Nursing Management
