As an established leader there are several things that need to be addressed such as
Leadership Skills, Leading and Following, and Leadership style. I use a Democratic /
Participative Leadership style. With this style, the leader makes all parameters and final
decisions but takes into consideration the followers’ opinions and suggestions. I plan to use this
style in conjunction with Contemporary and Interpersonal approaches, allowing me to have more
autonomy with my followers and offer support with empowerment.
My Leadership skills include some of
my Personality traits, Emotional Intelligence
incorporating ALOHA, Intrinsic Motivation,
and understanding decision-making models.
Strengths to weaknesses, my personality traits
are Openness, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Neuroticism, Extraversion. All of my strengths
are useful by allowing me to incorporate empathy and situational social sensitivity, giving me the
ability to provide individual diversified responses in almost any situation. Extraversion is a
weakness I need to work on, I am too comfortable falling into the background and not
communicating when in a group setting.
Emotional Intelligence provides a better
understanding of people’s feelings in different
situations. Emotional Intelligence with ALOHA
(Asking, Listening, Observing, Helping, and Ask
again) allows for smoother communication and understanding of a situation. Motivation is key
when it comes to accomplishing goals. Some people don’t have this naturally, before self-
evaluating this included me as well. Intrinsic motivation allows me to use autonomy with

diversity in labor which benefits both me and my employees. This type of motivation makes
employees feel enthusiastic, valued, listened to, less stressed, and successful.
Understanding decision-making
models like intuitive & rational help make
judgment easier. Intuitive decision-making is
taking past experience into consideration when presented with a comparable situation, you call
on knowledge gained from the past to obtain a speedy solution.
There are many important things about being a leader including the ability to both lead and
follow within a team. Along with proper communication using sociology and psychology will
achieve a healthier leader-follower relationship.
While applying communication disciplines such as
receiving and giving criticism, listening to others, and
letting someone else take control in a situation I can effectively lead and follow. These methods
allow me the ability to be a part of a team with trust and understanding of all the perspectives
associated with a diverse employee and leader staff.
