CACHE MEMORY Najeeb ur R e h m a n Farhat Ullah ( Mcs-2nd )
Cache Memory: It is a very high speed memory which is placed between CPU and RAM it store frequently used data
PARTS OF CACHE: There are three parts of cache L1 L2 L3
L1 L1 is the nearest part of cache to CPU It is less in size but it is the fastest part of cache The cpu first search the requested data in L1
L2 It have less speed then L1 And if cpu miss and it search the requested data in L2
L3 It is the slowest part of cache If the CPU miss in L2 then it search the requested data in L3
Why it is used? Computer uses Cache to store all those programs which are frequently used. It is a small but very fast place for the computer to put things in.
Hit / miss ratio : Hit: If the requested data is found in Cache. It is a Hit Miss: If the CPU could not find the requested data in Cache. Then it is called a Miss.
Cache effectiveness: To improve cache, it is necessary to make the hit rate as high as possible.
