DR MRS SAROJ R. SAWANT CALCAREA CARBONICA

History Latin calx or calcis meaning ”lime” Human hearts & Frog hearts needed the presence of calcium in the bathing solution in order to continue beating Dr Saroj Sawant

CALCIUM FACTS ▪ Soft grey alkaline earth metal ▪ Symbol Ca ▪ Number 20 ▪ Group II ▪ Divalent cation ▪ Atomic weight 40 g/mol ▪ Single oxidation state +2 ▪ Fifth most abundant element in Earth´s crust ▪ Essential for living organisms Dr Saroj Sawant

Physiological functions Calcium needed by the body for: 1. The formation and maintenance of bone and teeth, 2. Coagulation of blood, 3. Regulation of neuromuscular irritability 4. Muscular contractility. Dr Saroj Sawant

Common Name Impure Calcium Carbonate. Ca CO3. Dr Saroj Sawant

CALCIUM OCCURRENCE In nature ▪ Does not exist freely ▪ Occurs mostly in soil systems as limestone (CaCO3), gypsum (CaSO4*2H2O) & The rest (app. 99 %) in the skeleton (Bones can serve as large reservoirs, releasing calcium when extracellular fluid concentration decreases and storing excess calcium) 1 % in the cells ,1 % in the extra cellular fluid Average adult body contains app. 1 kg Dr Saroj Sawant

Part Used Trituration of the middle layer of oyster shells Dr Saroj Sawant

Prover Dr Saroj Sawant

Doctrine of signature The remedy is prepared from the middle layers of inner part of the oyster shell. Thus one of the features of calcarea is protection and withdrawal . They withdraw and make a protective layer around them. ▪ Another strong aspect of Calcarea is anxiety and fear. There is a theme of insecurity . The fears & anxieties centre around issues such as money, health. When these basic aspects are not secure, they develop strong despair. Dr Saroj Sawant

Pathogenesis Calcarea carb . produces impairment in nutrition of various organs, particularly bones. Alteration in composition of blood with chief action on skin and bones. Dr Saroj Sawant

Sphere of Action Its chief action is centered in the vegetative sphere, impaired nutrition being the keynote of its action, the glands, skin, and bones , being instrumental in the changes wrought. Increased local and general perspiration, swelling of glands, scrofulous and rachitic conditions generally offer numerous opportunities for the exhibition of Calcarea . Dr Saroj Sawant

Master Quotes Clarke  calls it " one of the greatest monuments of  Hahnemann's   genius” Dr Saroj Sawant

Master Quotes Fatness without fitness. Sweating without heat. Bones without strength. Tissues of plus quantity and minus quality. Mere flabby bulk, with weakness and weariness. ----------Dr Margaret Tyler Dr Saroj Sawant

Master Quotes Kent  describes it thus : " Children with cold feet, emaciated extremities, enlarged abdomen, stomach distended like an inverted saucer, bloated abdomen. Cold, and sensitive to cold. Pale skin. Pale, waxy face." Dr Saroj Sawant

Master Quotes NASH  says, " If Calcarea has one symptom that not only leads all the rest, but also all other remedies, it is found in the PROFUSE SWEATS ON THE HEAD OF LARGE-HEADED, OPEN FONTANELLES CHILDREN .” Dr Saroj Sawant

Master Quotes " Tardy development of the bony tissues with lymphatic enlargements." 'Curvature of the bones, especially spine and long bones." " Extremities deformed, crooked." " Softening of the bones : fontanelles remain open too long, and skull very large."   Dr Constantine Hering Dr Saroj Sawant

Constitution Suited to Leucophlegmatic , blond hair, light complexion, blue eyes, fair skin; tendency to obesity in youth. Psoric constitutions; pale, weak, timid, easily tired when walking. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Disposed to grow fat, corpulent, unwieldly . Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Children with red face, flabby muscles, who sweat easily and take cold readily in consequence. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Large heads and abdomens; fontanelles and sutures open ; bones soft, develop very slowly. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Curvature of bones, especially spine and long bones; extremities crooked, deformed; bone irregularly developed. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Head sweats profusely while sleeping, wetting pillow far around ( Silicea , Sanicula ). Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Profuse perspiration , mostly on back of head and neck, or chest and upper part of body ( Silicea ). Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Difficult and delayed dentition with characteristic head sweats, and open fontanelles . Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters During either sickness or convalescence, --great longing for eggs; -- craves indigestible things ( Alumina ); --aversion to meat. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Acidity of digestive tract ; sour eructations , sour vomiting, sour stool; sour odor of the whole body ( Hepar Sulph , Rheum. ). Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Girls who are fleshy, plethoric, and grow too rapidly. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Menstruation too early, too profuse, too long lasting; with subsequent amenorrhoea and chlorosis with menses scanty or suppressed. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Women: menses too early, too profuse; feet habitually cold an damp, as if they had on cold damp stockings; continually cold in bed. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters The least mental excitement causes profuse return of menstrual flow ( Sulph ., Tuberculinum ). Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Fears she will lose her reason or that people will observe her mental confusion ( Actea ). Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Lung diseases of tall, slender, rapidly growing youth; upper third of right lung ( Arsenicum – upper left, [ Myr .], Sulphur ); oftener the guide to the constitutional remedy than Phosphorus (compare, Tuberculinum ). Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Diseases: arising from defective assimilation; imperfect ossification; difficulty in learning to walk or stand; children have no disposition to walk and will not try; suppressed sweat. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Rawness of soles of feet from perspiration ( Graphites , Sanicula ); blisters and offensive foot sweat. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Longing for fresh air (when in a room) which inspires, benefits, strengthens ( Pulsatilla , Sulphur ). Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Coldness: general; of single parts ( Kali bichromicum ); head, stomach, abdomen, feet and legs; aversion to cold open air, “goes right through her:” sensitive to cold, damp air; great liability to take cold (opposite of Sulph . ). Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Sweat: of single parts; head, scalp wet, cold; nape of neck; chest; axillae , sexual organs; hands, knees; feet ( Sepia ). Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Pit of stomach swollen like an inverted saucer, and painful to pressure . Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Painless hoarseness < in the morning. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Feels better in every way when constipated. Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Stool has to be removed mechanically ( Aloe., Sanicula , Selenium, Sepia, Silicea ). Dr Saroj Sawant

Characters Desire to be magnetized ( Phosphorus ) Dr Saroj Sawant

modalities Dread of the open air ranks most prominently; The least cold air goes right through bones. Great sensitiveness to cold, damp air. Also cannot bear sun. The slightest change inspiring fresh air; and during heat, uncovers. Great weakness on ascending , on walking, talking (chests feels weak), or excitement. Dr Saroj Sawant

Modality Aggravation. – < Cold air; < wet weather; < cold water; < from washing ( Antim crud. ); < morning; < during full moon; Dr Saroj Sawant

Modality Amelioration. – > Dry weather; > lying on painful side ( Bryonia , Pulsatilla ). > After breakfast; > on rising from drawing up limbs; > from loosening garments. > In the dark when lying on the back; > after lying down; > from rubbing, from scratching; > in dry weather; > wiping or soothing with the hands; from being touched. Dr Saroj Sawant

Relations Complementary : to Belladonna, which is the acute of Calcarea Calcarea acts best: before Lycopodium , Nux ., Phosphorus, Silicea It follows: Acid nitricum , Pulsatilla , Sulphur (especially if pupils are dilated); is followed by, Kali bichromicum in nasal catarrh. Compatible : before Lyc ., Nux , Phos ., Plat., Sil . ; after Cham., Nit. ac., Nux , Puls ., Sulph . (especially if pupils dilate). Incompatible : before Nit. ac. and Sulph ., according to  Hahnemann. Dr Saroj Sawant

Precautions According to Hahnemann, Calcarea must not be used before Acid nitricum and Sulph .; may produce unnecessary complications. In children it may be often repeated. In aged people should not be repeated ; especially if the first dose benefited, it will usually do harm. Dr Saroj Sawant

Thank you Dr Saroj Sawant
