CAPSTONE PROJECT
Department of Biotechnology
Title: Production of bio enzyme from organic
waste to convert horticultural industrial
residue to nutraceutics
Dr.M.S.Dinesh
Production of bio enzyme from organic waste using transformation
CAPSTONE PROJECT
Introduction
1.Due to urbanization and industrialization there is huge amount of waste
generated due to human activity
2.There is scope for its ecofriendly treatment of organic waste to value added
products
3. The present study aimed to produce a bioenzyme from degradable waste to
neutraceuticals using fruit and vegetable processing unit waste
Production of bio enzyme from organic waste using transformation
CAPSTONE PROJECT
Hypothesis
Bio enzyme produced from organic waste biotransformed the fruit and
vegetable waste to nuetraceuticals
Objectives:
•1. Optimization of process for production bioenzyme from organic waste
•2.Biochemical profiling of bioenzyme for biotransformation potential
•3. Standardization of fruits and vegetable waste to neutraceuticals
•4. Screening the neutraceutical property of resulted product
•5. Finding the economics of the optimized media reference to synthetic media
Production of bio enzyme from organic waste using transformation
CAPSTONE PROJECT
METHODOLOGY
1. Collection of waste from different Sources: On campus, domestic and
agroindustries
2.Prodcution of Bioenzyme from agro waste: Ultrasonication and
Fermentation
3.Purification and characterization of Bioenzyme: Filtration and Screening for
lipase, hydrolase and protease activity, acid and alkaline phosphatase
activity
4.Standardisation of enzymatic process for conversion of fruit and vegetable
peels into value added product: Fermentation, drying and granulation
4.Screening the product for neutraceutical property: Antioxidant, growth
proliferation and antimicrobial activity
