STAR for Undisciplinary action: Situation : During my tenure as a Human Resources Manager, we encountered a situation where an employee was consistently late for work, which was affecting the team’s productivity and morale. Task : As the HR Manager, it was my responsibility to address this issue fairly and effectively. Action : Met with the employee to discuss the issue, listening to their story, after understanding their situation, I explained the importance of punctuality and how their tardiness was affecting the team. Issued a formal written warning, outlining the consequences of further tardiness. Offered resources to help the employee improve their time management skills. Involve direct supervisor to monitor worker attendance status. Resolve the problem's root cause Result : Following our discussion and the disciplinary action, the employee’s punctuality improved significantly. This not only enhanced the team’s productivity but also improved the overall work environment.
STAR method to describe your activities to improve the EcoVadis score: Situation : As a Human Resources Manager, I noticed that our company’s EcoVadis score, which measures our sustainability performance, was lower than industry average. Task : My task was to identify areas of improvement and implement strategies to enhance our sustainability practices and improve our EcoVadis score. Action : I initiated a comprehensive review of our current practices and identified key areas where we could improve our sustainability efforts. This included enhancing our waste management system, improving energy efficiency, and providing training to employees about sustainable practices. I also worked closely with various departments to ensure these changes were implemented effectively. Result : As a result of these initiatives, our EcoVadis score improved significantly, reflecting our commitment to sustainability. This not only enhanced our company’s reputation but also led to cost savings and increased employee engagement.
Boost Factory Productivity Situation : In the first week I handled the HR Department Head, I identified that absenteeism, late arrivals, and inefficient time management were negatively impacting our production productivity. At that time, our Dry Line productivity only averaged 3,2 MT per Hour, Milling line was around 6 MT per Hour, and this situation usually led to shipment delays. Task : My primary task was to devise and implement strategies to reduce absenteeism, ensure employees start work on time, and improve the management of production working time, all with the ultimate goal of boosting production productivity. Action : I took the following actions: Reducing Absenteeism: I introduced a comprehensive attendance policy that included rewards for consistent attendance and penalties for unexcused absences. I also initiated wellness programs to address health issues. Specifically, I added mandatory medical checkups for workers with frequent absenteeism related to illness, as illness had become a common cause of absenteeism. Late to Start Work : To tackle the issue of late arrivals, I evaluated the company regulations governing attendance premiums There was a clause that allowed for a grace period of 5 minutes after the start of working hours, during which an employee could still be considered present and entitled to an attendance premium. I revised this policy to require arrival 5 minutes before the start of working hours. Production Working Time Management : I worked closely with the production team to understand the bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the current processes. Based on this, I facilitated training programs focused on lean manufacturing and efficient production practices. Result : These initiatives led to a significant reduction in absenteeism, significant decrease in late arrivals, and an increase in overall production efficiency. This not only enhanced our production productivity but also fostered a more positive and efficient work environment.
