Nursing care of patient on ventilator The components of the nursing care of patient on ventilator are Promote respiratory function Monitor for complications Prevent infections . Promoting Safety needs Provide adequate nutrition Nursing Care of Patient on Ventilator 4

Promote respiratory function Auscultate lungs frequently to a ssess for abnormal sounds. Suction as needed. Change posture every 2 hourly. Secure ETT properly and change lip site every 12 hourly Monitor ABG value and pulse oximetry. Nursing Care of Patient on Ventilator 5

Prevent from Infection Strict hand washing A septic technique with suctioning Elevate head of bed 30-45 degrees (unless contraindicated ) P roviding sedation vacations and assessing patient’s readiness to extubate P roviding peptic ulcer disease prophylaxis Providing deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis Perform oral care with chlorhexidine 2-4 H Nursing Care of Patient on Ventilator 6

Safety Needs Prevent trauma & infection Perform hand-hygiene & adopt sterile techniques. Prevention of cross-infection & nosocomial infection. Maintain warm & adequate body temperature.
