Traditional career paths for b.com graduates
1) Chartered accountancy Path - After completing B.com with a minimum of 60% one can directly give IPCC CA Intermediate exams which has two groups which can be given in a single attempt or can be given separately. Internship duration – 1.5 years Finally, One needs to clear CA final exams within 6 months after internship to become a chartered accountant. CA is an exam which has no fixed no. of attempts . Pass marks – Aggregate 50% and minimum 30%(each subject)
Role - Becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA) is a prestigious career choice. CAs are responsible for auditing financial statements, providing financial advice, and ensuring compliance with tax laws. They are capable for expert level services in the fields of General management, Personnel management, Financial management, Operations management, HR management They deal with core areas of accounting, auditing, taxation Average Income Fresher – Rs.6 to 9 Lakhs per annum It can go up to Rs.20-25 lakhs per annum for experienced professionals
2) Company Secretary Path – You can register with ICSI to pursue the CS after BCom course. The CS course comprises three levels - Foundation, Executive, and Professional. Each level has a set of subjects that you need to study and clear the exams for. You can appear for the exams in either June or December every year. The exams are conducted in online mode. Role - Chief advisor to the board of directors on best practices in corporate governance.

3) Cost and management accountancy (CMA) Path – After B.Com one can directly give intermediate and final without foundation examination Internship – 1.5 years Role - CMAs are experts in cost management, financial planning, and decision-making. With expertise in corporate finance and management accounting, a few common roles they fill are financial analysts, risk managers, and cost accountants.
