History Male, student, 6 years old, sustained the left elbow injured in sports, complaining for the swelling and pain of the elbow with restricted movement for 6 days.
Physical examination: The sensation and circulation of the left hand is normal. A obvious tenderness is detected at the lateral site of the elbow.
Classification
stage 1 : stable stage 2 :displacement is < 2 mm, the fracture line extends to the epiphyseal articular cartilage stage 3 : unstable, displacement is < 2 mm, with a gap that is as wide laterally as it is medially stage 4 : unstable and displacement is >2 mm stage 5 : unstable and displacement is >2 mm with rotation . 1 Closed reduction and internal fixation is an effective treatment for unstable displaced lateral condylar fractures 2 If fracture displacement after closed reduction exceeds 2 mm, open reduction and internal fixation is recommended Highlights
