Minimal Displaced Lateral Condyle Fracture In Children Gang chen 2019-2-21

History Male, student, 6 years old, sustained the left elbow injured in sports, complaining for the swelling and pain of the elbow with restricted movement for 6 days.

Physical examination: The sensation and circulation of the left hand is normal. A obvious tenderness is detected at the lateral site of the elbow.

Classification

stage 1 : stable stage 2 :displacement is < 2 mm, the fracture line extends to the epiphyseal articular cartilage stage 3 : unstable, displacement is < 2 mm, with a gap that is as wide laterally as it is medially stage 4 : unstable and displacement is >2 mm stage 5 : unstable and displacement is >2 mm with rotation . Classification

Diagnosis

1 Closed reduction and internal fixation is an effective treatment for unstable displaced lateral condylar fractures 2 If fracture displacement after closed reduction exceeds 2 mm, open reduction and internal fixation is recommended Highlights

3 MRI appears to be a reliable method for determining whether the fracture line is complete or incomplete Highlights

What is the diagnosis ?
