SWINE FLU (H1 N1 FLU)
Technically the term Swine flu refers to Influenza in Pigs. Occasionally. Pigs
transmit influenza viruses to people, mainly hog farmers and veterinarians.
The human respiratory infection caused by a particular influenza virus H1 N1
strain-Popularly known as Swine Flu. It was recognized first in 2009. Afterward
the cases were reported worldwide as a result, the world health organization
(WHO) declared the infection a global pandemic.
The pandemic was declared over in august 2010. Currently the H1 N1 still
circulating in humans as a seasonal flu virus and is included in the seasonal flu
vaccine .

SYMPTOMS
Swine Flu symptoms develop about one to three days after you’re exposed to
the virus and continue about seven days.
When to see a doctor:Its not a necessary to see a doctor if you’re generally
healthy and develop flu sings and symptoms, such as fever , cough and body
aches. Call your doctor, however you have flu like symptoms and if you have
chronic diseases.

CAUSES & RISK FACTORS
CAUSES:
Influenza viruses infect the cells lining of your nose , throat and lungs. The
virus enters your body when you inhale contaminant droplets or transfer live
virus from contaminated surface to your eyes , nose and mouth.
You cant catch a Swine flu from eating pork.
RISK FACTORS:
Swine farmers and veterinarians have the highest risk of true swine flu because
of the exposure to pigs.
Also if you’ve travelled to area where many people are affected by Swine Flu.

ModeofactionofTAMIFLU:
Oseltamivirinhibitstheneuraminidaseenzyme,whichisexpressedontheviralsurface.The
enzymepromotesreleaseofvirusfrominfectedcellsandfacilitatesviralmovementwithinthe
respiratorytract.
ModeofactionofRelenza:
Zanamivirworksbybindingtotheactivesiteofneuraminidaseprotein,renderingtheinfluenza

vivo.

MODE OF ACTION OF DRUGS
Mode of action of Clavam:
Amoxicillin binds to penicillin binding proteins within the bacterial cell wall and inhibits
bacterial cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic acid is beta lactam, structurally related to penicillin, that
may inactivate certain beta lactamase enzymes.

REMEDIES
There are certain measures also helps to prevent Swine Flu (H1 N1) and limit
the spread:
Stay home if you’re sick:If you do have swine flu, you can give it to others starting about 24
hours before you develop symptoms and ending about seven days later.
Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently:Use soap and water or if they are unavailable
use alcohol base sanitizer.
Contain your cough and sneezes: Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. To
avoid contaminating yours hands and other body parts too.
Avoid contact : Stay away from crowds if possible. And if you’re at risk of complications fro
