Subjective Case

Possesive Case

Pronoun Case
Case tells whether a pronoun shows
possession or acts as subject or
object in the sentence

Why are they called subjective?
Use the subjective case when the pronoun is the subject
(The doer of the action).
I, you, he, she, we, they

Identifying Subjective Case
Found at the beginning of the sentence as the
doer of the action or can be the topic of the
sentence.
I love grammar.
You get the card.
He is great.
She is excellent.
We open the gate.
They did it well.

2. Possessive Case
That is my bag.
The power comes from her hand.

Where are the personal pronouns?
That is my bag.

Why are they called possessive?
Use the possessive case to show ownership.
mine, your, my, his, her, our, their

Identifying Possessive Case
Can be used as subject but it emphasizes that
something is owned.
The company is mine.
Your hands are dirty.
The boys at the back are his brothers.
That house is her new home.
Our event is successful.
The family cared for their living.

3. Objective Case
Arnold sends flower to her.
Alex is looking at me.

Why are they called objective?
receiver of the action. Use the objective case when the
pronoun is an object of the sentence
me, him, her, us, them

Identifying Objective Case
After action verbs
Arnold bought (verb) her a new toaster
After prepositions (joining words)
