USB ports for faster deployment or upgrade Backing up configuration/image/ localization files Loading new configuration/image/ localization files Copying log files and other file copy operations Example of usage Located on the on the left side of the switch front panel Connected flash storage can be controlled via device file system or connect Bluetooth dongle to access CLI or GUI In a stack, only the master’s USB port is active Access CLI via SSH or GUI using Bluetooth dongle
Single IP management Connect up to eight members All switches act as a single logical unit Mix and match within 10G, 16, 24 and 48 ports, PoE and data
Built-in security Pervasive security ensure business continuity Authentication IEEE 802.1X port security tightly limits access to specific segments of your network Secured access VLAN Prevent unauthorized access Encryption Embedded Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) provide additional layer of data encryption Threat protection Denial of Service (DoS) prevention. IP-MAC Port Binding (IPMB) and IPv6 first hop security block deliberate network attacks
Power over Ethernet Meeting room/classroom/ hotel room Wiring closet Benefits are obvious Lower cabling cost Fast and flexible deployment PoE+ support (30W per port) for high-performance wireless access points Variety of PoE budget to choose from
Perpetual PoE PoE devices connected to switch stay powered even on Switch Reload PoE devices continue to get Last Negotiated Power Applicable to “Soft” Reload – image upgrade, software crash, manual reboot Not applicable during power outage to switch/FEP removed Not applicable when switch is in hibernation mode Switch SOFT Reload!
Dying Gasp Dying Gasp is a technology for monitoring the device incase there are any power loss, reboot or resets observed on Cisco ® Catalyst ® 1300 Series switches. Dying Gasp on these switches will send signal/alert in form of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)/ Syslog when the device is about to go down due to a reset or power failure. Upon power loss/failure the switch can withstand >= 16 ms on detecting a 12V input drop. Monitoring station Fault Message sent via Syslog, SNMP Power Source failed
Energy efficient Ethernet IEEE 802.3az lowers power consumption during low traffic periods Automatically turns off power when the switch detects a link down Resumes active mode when the switch detects that the link is up or a device is connected Detects the length of connected Ethernet cable and adjusts power usage without affecting performance
