Session Objectives: a) Identify the types of drugs/substances of abuse. b) Define the different types of drug abuse. c) Analyzes situations for the use and non-use of psychoactive substances.

Warm - Up What is the Drug Scenario in our country nowadays? 2. What is the name/title of the operation towards the war on drugs in our country? 3. Do you support the war on drugs in our country? Explain.

Concept Exploration 1. What have you observed in the pictures? 2. What are these things? Do you know their names? 3. What do you think will be the effects if we are going to take them?

Types of Psychoactive Drugs Depressants - These drugs can calm the brain, cause sleepiness, and make a person feel relaxed. However, they can also cause nightmares, anxiety, and aggression. Alcohol is an example of depressant . Stimulants - These include drugs such as cocaine and caffeine. They can increase energy, alertness and wakefulness.

Types of Psychoactive Drugs Opiates - These are pain-killing drugs that increase feelings of happiness or euphoria and create a tranquilizing effect. They can lead to addiction if a person misuses them. One example is heroin. Hallucinogens - These drugs can cause a person to have hallucinations which means they may see or hear things that are not there. They can also cause a person to perceive time differently, feel detached from their surroundings or feel deeply insightful. LSD is an example of this type of drug.
