3. DANGI Also known as Kandadi . Breeding tract : Thane, Nasik, Ahmednagar districts of Maharashtra and Dangs district of Gujarat. Draught type breed . Adapted to heavy rainfall conditions. Coat colour: White coat colour with red or black spots distributed unevenly over the body. Horn : Inwardly curving and pointing downward.

4. DEONI Also known as Dongerpati , Dongari , Wannera , Waghyd , Balankya , Shevera . Origin : Marathwada region of Maharashtra. Milch type cattle breed . Developed from strains of Gir, Dangi and local cattle. Spotted black and white body . Horns : Small sized from the side of the poll in outward and upward direction. Drooping ears AFC 36-42 months LACTATION YIELD 900-1200 KG

5. GAOLAO Also known as Arvi and Gaulgani . Dual purpose cattle breed . Native to the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra especially in districts like Wardha, Nagpur Coat colour : white to light grey Horns : Short, stumpy and curved slightly backward. Gaolao cattle are well-suited for hilly areas due to their agility. 

6. KHILLAR Draught type cattle breed. Found in western and southern part of Maharashtra especially in the districts of Satara, Sangli , Solapur and Ahmednagar. Grey white in colour with quick gait. Horns : Upwardly curving

7. KONKAN KAPILA Dual purpose cattle breed. Native to Konkan region of Maharashtra and Goa . Coat Colour : Reddish brown, black. Horns: medium sized and curved upward. Highly resistant to tick borne diseases, trypanosomiasis, FMD, HS, mastitis etc .

8. RED KANDHARI Draught type cattle breed. Found in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra especially in districts like Nanded, Parbhani , Latur and Hingoli . Coat Colour: Deep Red

9. KATHANI 51 st registered Cattle breed by NBAGR in 2022. Dual purpose cattle breed . Distributed mainly in the Vidarbha region of Western Maharashtra. Possesses good draft ability , suited to marshy land for paddy cultivation. LACTATION YIELD 353-1533 kg MILK FAT 6.5-11.5%

10. NAGPURI Also called Elitchpuri or Barari . Native to Vidarbha region of Maharashtra Found especially in Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati and Akola districts. Dual purpose breed . Coat colour : Black Horns : sword shaped

11. PANDHARPURI Dual purpose breed. Native to the dry regions of Solapur, Sangli , Kolapur and Satara districts of Maharashtra Coat Colour : Black Horns : Sword Shaped twisted outward. LACTATION LENGTH 350 DAYS LACTATION YIELD 1400-1790 KG MILK FAT 7.8-8%

12. MARATHAWADI Also called as Dudhana Thadi . Breeding tract : Parbhani , Nanded, Beed, Jalna and Latur districts of Maharashtra. Dual purpose breed. Coat Colour : greyish black to jet black. Horn : Parallel to neck and reach up to the shoulder.

13. PURNATHADI Earlier it was considered as a sub-strain of Nagpuri but now it’s a distint breed. 20 th registered Buffalo breed by NBAGR in 2022. Found in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra . Dual purpose breed. Coat Colour : Whitish to Light Brown Horns : Long Hook shaped LACTATION LENGTH 353 DAYS LACTATION YIELD 1533 KG MILK FAT 6.5-11.5%
