What is cause and effect essay A cause and effect essay is a type of writing that examines the reasons (causes) and outcomes (effects) of a particular event, situation, or phenomenon. The goal of this essay is to explain why something happens (the cause) and what happens as a result (THE EFFECT). THIS TYPE OF ESSAY HELPS THE READER UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIFFERENT EVENTS OR ACTIONS AND THEIR IMPACTS.

TRANSITIONAL WORDS AND PHRASES These help to clarify the relationship between causes and effects. Examples include: To indicate causes : because, since, due to, as a result of, owing to. To indicate effects : therefore, consequently, as a result, thus, hence, for this reason.

CLEAR AND CONCISE LANGUAGE Cause and effect writing needs to be straightforward and easy to follow. This often involves: Using active voice where appropriate. Being specific about the causes and their effects.

LOGICAL STRUCTURE The language should guide the reader through a logical progression of ideas. This involves: Introducing the causeS Explaining the effectS Sometimes discussing the interplay between multiple causes and effects.

EVIDENCE AND EXAMPLE Providing evidence or examples to support the cause and effect relationship helps to PROOF the claims. Phrases like "for example," "such as," and "evidence shows" are common.

ANALYTICAL LANGUAGE Cause and effect writing often involves analysis, which requires careful consideration of the relationships. Words like "analyze," "determine," "illustrate," "demonstrate," and "show" are frequently used. Here are some examples of sentences using cause and effect language: Cause : "Because the company did not invest in new technology, its productivity decreased." Effect : "The heavy rainfall resulted in widespread flooding across the region." Combined : "Due to the severe weather conditions, many flights were canceled, leading to significant disruptions for travelers."
