WHAT IS MIGRATION? Migration is a way to move from one place to another in order to live and work. Movement of people from their home to another city, state or country for a job, shelter or some other reasons is called migration.
TYPES OF MIGRATION: Internal Migration— It is a the movement of an individual or group of people from one region of a country to another region of the same country . External Migration— It is the movement of people from one country to another . Emigrate— means to leave one's country to live in another. Immigrate— It is to come into another country to live permanently.
TYPES OF MIGRATION: 5. Population transfer— It is the movement of a large group of people from one region to another by state policy or international authority . 6. Step Migration— Migration that occurs in stages, such as moving from a rural area to a small town and then to a larger city . 7. Chain Migration— Migration facilitated by networks of family or community members who have previously migrated 8. Impelled Migration— This type of migration occurs when individuals feel pressured to leave their home due to unfavorable conditions but may still have some choice in the matter.
Job Opportunities : People move to find better jobs and earn more money. Poverty : Lack of money, resources, and basic needs pushes people to move to places with better opportunities. Family Reasons : Many migrate to be with family members already living somewhere else. Education : People move to access better schools and education. War and Conflict : War and violence force people to leave for safety. Political Issues : Escape from persecution or political problems can drive migration. Natural Disasters : Events like floods, earthquakes, and storms force people to leave their homes. Climate Change : Long-term changes, like drought or rising sea levels, make areas unlivable. Better Quality of Life : People migrate for a better lifestyle, healthcare, or living conditions. Cultural Freedom : Some migrate to places where they can freely practice their culture or religion .
