Celerio's passion for music was influenced by his mother, a harpist and church choir member. He began playing the violin at age 11 and later joined the Philippine Constabulary Band. He also studied violin at the Academy of Music in Manila and became the youngest member of the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

Songwriting Career Celerio is credited with writing a vast collection of Filipino folk, Christmas, and love songs. Some of his most famous works include " Ikaw ," " Kahit Konting Pagtingin ," and the lullaby "Sa Ugoy ng Duyan ." He also composed folk songs like " Ako ay May Singsing " and " Ang Pipit."

Leaf Instrument Celerio is renowned for his ability to play music using a leaf, a skill that earned him a Guinness World Record. He learned this unique technique during World War II.

Awards and Recognition In addition to his National Artist award, Celerio received numerous honors, including an honorary doctorate degree from the University of the Philippines and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Film Academy of the Philippines.

Later Years and Legacy Celerio continued to perform in public until his death in 2002. His music remains a significant part of Filipino culture, and his legacy as a composer and musician is celebrated through performances, awards, and even a Google Doodle on his 108th birthday.
