Pollution control refers to the measures and action taken to prevent ,reduce or mitigate the harmful effect of pollution on the environment and human health. Its involes implementing strategies, regulations, and technologies to mimimize pollution and promote sustainable practies . Pollution control can include various aspect such as air pollution control, water pollution control, waste management POLLUTION CONTROL

The Central Pollution Control Board of India is a statutory organization under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. It was established in 1974 under the Water Act, 1974. The CPCB is also entrusted with the powers and functions under the Air Act, 1981 What is CPCB

CENTRAL POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD(CPCB) Its is the apex pollution control authority at the national level in india The CPCB formulates polices and guidelines for pollution control and prevention. It coordinates with SPCB and provide technical assistance and guidance. The CPCB conducts national level enviromental monitoring and assessment programs. Its plays a crucial role in enforcing enviromental laws and gegulations across the country.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) plays a crucial role in pollution control in India. It is a statutory organization that operates under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Here are some key roles of the CPCB: 1 . Formulating Policies : The CPCB formulates policies and guidelines for pollution control and prevention at the national level. They develop strategies to address various forms of pollution, such as air, water, and soil pollution. Role of central pollution co ntrol boards

Monitoring and Assessment : The CPCB monitors and assesses the quality of the envioronment through extensive research and data collection . They analyze pollution levels and provide valuable insights to guide pollution control measures Regulation and Enforcement : The CPCB ensures compliance with environmental laws and regualation . They establish standards for industries standards for industries and monitor their operations to minimize polltion. They also have the authority to take legel action against violators.

Capacity Building : The CPCB training programs, workshops, and awareness campaigns to build capacity and educate stakeholders about pollution control measures. They work towards creating a culture of environmental responsibility.

1- plastic waste management: in an effort to tackle the growing problem of plastic pollution, the CPCB has introduced regulations for the management and disposal of plastic waste. These regulations focus on reducing single –use plastics, promoting recycling, and encouraging the use of eco-friendly. Some of the key initiatives or regulations implemented by the (CPCB)

Effluent standards = The CPCB has established effluent standards for industries, specifying the maxium permissible limits for pollutants in waste water discharged into water bodies this helps in preventing water pollution and protecting the quality of our rivers and lakes. Hazardous waste management: the CPCB has implemented regulations for the proper management and disposal of hazardous waste .these regulations cover the generation, storage , transportation ensure that its is handled safely and does not harm the enviroment or human health

SPCB are responsible for implementing pollution control measures within their respective states. They monitor and regulate industrical ,vehicular and other soucres of pollution. SPCB issue permits , conduct inspections and take enforcement actions against polluting industries. They work closey with the CPCB and local bodies to ensure compliance with enviromental standards. State pollution control boards (SPCB)

State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) have an important role in pollution control within their respective states in India. Just like the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), SPCBs are statutory bodies established under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. Here are some key roles of SPCBs: 1 . Implementation of Environmental Laws : SPCBs are responsible for implementing and enforcing environmental laws and regulations at the state level. They ensure that industries and other entities comply with pollution control measures and standards. ROLE OF STATE POLLUTION CONTROL BOARDS

2. Granting and Renewing EnvironmentaL Clearances: SPCBs play a crucial role in granting and renewing environmental clearances to industries and projects. They assess the potential environmental impact of these activities and set conditions to minimize pollution. 3. Monitoring and Assessment : SPCBs monitor and assess pollution levels within their states. They collect data on air, water, and soil quality to identify sources of pollution and take necessary actions to control and prevent POLLUTION

Local bodies such as municipal corporations and panchayat, play an important role in pollution control at the grassroots level. They manage waste management system ,including collection ,segregations and disposal of solid waste. Local bodies implement pollution control measures related to water bodies ,air quality and noise pollution within their jurisdictions. They work in collaboration with SPCB and other relevant authorities to address local environmental issue. Local bodies

1. Waste Management : Municipal corporations and panchayats are responsible for managing solid waste within their areas. They establish waste collection systems, segregation practices, and disposal methods to ensure proper waste management. This helps in reducing pollution caused by improper waste disposal. 2. Sanitation and Sewage Treatment: Local bodies oversee the provision of sanitation facilities, including the construction and maintenance of public toilets and sewage treatment plants. Proper sanitation and sewage management prevent the contamination of water bodies and the spread of waterborne diseases. Role of local bodies ,

3. Environmental Planning and Regulation : Municipal corporations and panchayats have the authority to regulate and control activities that may contribute to pollution. They issue permits, licenses, and clearances for industries, construction projects, and commercial establishments, ensuring compliance with environmental norms. 4. Public Awareness and Education : Local bodies have the opportunity to raise awareness about pollution-related issues among the local population. They can organize campaigns, workshops, and educational programs to promote sustainable practices, waste reduction, and environmental conservation.
