CENTRIFUGE MACHINE
Principle :
●Centrifuge is used for the separation of gas or liquid, based on density.
●Separation is done by spinning a vessel containing material at high speed.
●The centrifugal force pushes heavier materials to the outside of the vessel.
●Basically it works on the principle of centrifugation.
● There are multiple types of centrifuge, which can be classified by intended
use or by rotor design.
Centrifuge diagram
Working:
●Refrigerated laboratory centrifuges temperature ranges as wide as - 20C
-40C.
●Samples are taken in the test tubes and rotated at rpm over 30,000.
●A relative centrifugal force (RCF) of over 65,000 x g is applied.
●A refrigerated lab centrifuge comes in a number of configurations.
●It include swing bucket or fixed-angle types, or both.
● It has efficient cooling system and automatic unit conversion capability.
Advantages:
●Centrifuge has clean appearance and has no odour problems.
●Easy to install and operate.
●Requires less space.
●Provides more flexibility.
●High level of performance.
Disadvantages:
●It is noisy machine.
●It causes vibrations.
●It consumes lot of energy due to high G-force.
●It is costly.
