New Academic Structure

Structure of NCF Foundational Stage

Breakdown from Aims to Outcomes in NCF School Education Curricular Aims — These aims are to be achieved by the ends of each of the four Stages of schooling. Learning Outcomes — Learning Outcomes (LOs) are granular milestones of learning and usually progress in a sequence leading to the attainment of a Competency Competencies — Competencies are specific learning achievements that are observable and can be assessed systematically. Summative assessments at the end of each Stage of schooling should be based on these Competencies. Curricular Goals — Curricular Goals are more specific statements that give direction to curriculum development and implementation in order to achieve the Curricular Aims.

New Academic Structure

An ideal Competency Based Learning Classroom Group Work 5 Min. Teachers understands the Competency: Understand zero and negative numbers, and how to do arithmetic with them, as explained by Brahmagupta Teacher conducts Classroom Activity and uses Practice sheet for practice: Zero and Negative Numbers Activity: Students practice adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing with zero and negative numbers. Teacher conducts Assessment using the Practice Tests: Practice Tests: Students solve problems involving zero and negative numbers and explain their solutions.

What does moving from content based to competency based mean?

Moving from content-based to competency -based learning focuses on building practical skills rather than memorizing facts. Understanding Competency

Competency Focused (Less Memorizing, More Doing) : Students apply knowledge in real-life situations, not just remember facts. Understanding Competency

Problem-Solving : Lessons focus on critical thinking and problem-solving. Understanding Competency

Competency based Practice tests : Tests focus on practical skills and problem-solving. Understanding Competency

Regarding weekly practice sheets: The teacher will read the practice sheets carefully before class. The teacher will identify which concept the questions are testing. The teacher will explain the concept to the students before starting the practice. The teacher will solve 2 to 3 questions with the class each day. The solving should ideally be an individual activity However, in the absence of multiple sheets, groups of 2 or 3 can be formed and made to solve the practice questions together Teacher's Role in the Classroom

ROLE OF A TEACHER Process of Fortnightly Test

More clarity of concepts Helpful in exams like NAS, NMMM, PSTSE, Olympiads Academic competitive exams Annual assessment Helpful in pursuing the higher education. Impact of CEP
