Definition Chanchroid is a sexually transmitted infection that causes painful sores in the genital area. It also cause swelling in inguinal lymphnodes .

Causes It’s a bacterial infection caused by Gram-Negative streptobacillus Haemophilus ducreyi. It’s a risk factor for HIV

Risk Factor Sexually active person, Improper personal hygiene, Common in male than female, Contact B/W broken skin, After using protection it may also be spread.

Transmission It spread skin to skin by Chanchroid Sore, Men develop single sore as women develop many sores, It can spread through direct contact with infected person via Sex, It can be spread to other body parts by rubbing.

C/M Patient has 1 or more painful Ulcer, Women is having ulcer in labia majora, Other area like labia minora, and Perineal area also be affected, Common symptoms for women is Dysuria ( Painful Urination ) & Dyspareunia ( Painful Intercourse ), Etc.

D/E Culture biopsy, Gram Staining, Microscopic Examination of Smear sample, CBC, Etc.

Medical Mgt Antibiotics, Ceftriaxone & Azithromycin,

Surgical Mgt Large lymph node swellings need to be drained, It may cause minor scarring at site.
