QUOTES

•An individual has not started living until he can rise above
the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the
broader concerns of all humanity
•The quality of our lives is determined by the quality of
our perspective. How we see the world is our world.
•Your lenses determine what you see. What lenses are you
wearing?

•Can you guess why people such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and
Dangote became hugely successful billionaires? Or what makes
sporting icons such as Ronaldo, Roger Federer, Serena Williams,
Lionel Messi ... different?
•The answer lies in their mindset. They have a success mindset
that allows them to think positively and focus on getting the job
done instead of fixating on the hurdles.
•People with a success mindset are driven to achieve their goals
Discuss

•You have been selected to participate in the Milo
Marathon in April 2023.
•The route will be: Start from Ashaiman through Osu
and finish at the Accra Sports stadium.
•What is your response?
•Who is ready to join?
•If not why?
MILO MARATHON 2023

•The established set of attitudes, assumptions, notions, methods
held by someone or group of people that have large impact on their
thought processes and behaviour. Mindset can change.
•Mindset can be viewed as character traits
•Two types of mindsets:
oFixed mindset:
▪People with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities cannot change and
they tend to focus on the familiar.
▪Fixed mindsetmeans that you do not see any possibilities to improve a
current situation.
Mindset

•Growth mindset:
oPeople with growth mindset are more open and ready to take on challenges.
Approach challenges positively. Understand the difficulties but don’t surrender. They
look for ways to achieve their goal.
oYou can develop a growth mindset by following the three A’s of setbacks—Accept,
Assess, and Act—to overcome any limiting thoughts.
•Growth mindsetmeans that you are not satisfied with the current situation. You
keep looking for ways to improve things. Kaizen – continuous improvement.
•During your professional journey, it is your mindset that helps get a promotion.
•Growth mindset alwaysraises the bar a bit higher when the other has almost
reached the bar!

Changing the mindset, changing the narrative
-That is how we have been doing it
- Wosuro aware gyae a ….
- Wonya adepa a fa bra fie ……….

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind, Eph 4:23
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, Rom 12:2
When I was an infant, I spoke as an infant, I thought as an
infant, I reasoned as an infant. But when I became a man, I
did away with the things of an infant 1 Cor 13: 11

•Personal growth – you grow and learn new things every time
something changes
•Flexibility – changes make you easily adapt to new situations,
new environment, new people
•Improvements – without change, there will be no
improvement
•Life values – changes make you re-evaluate your life and look
at things from a different perspective
•Progress – changes trigger progress
Benefits of changed mindset

❑Change is a general
transition of something or
phase to another state
/condition.
❑ It implies making either an
essential difference often
amounting to a loss of
original identity or a
substitution of one thing for
another.
WHAT IS CHANGE?

•Change – the act or instance of making or becoming different
•Change occurs as a process, not as an event.
•Change is moving from what we had known and done, through a
period of transition, to arrive at a desired new way of behaving
and doing our job.

•Become larger or greater over a period of time ie, increase.
•To increase in size or amount, or to allow or encourage
something to increase in size or to become more advanced
or developed.
(Cambridge English Dictionary)
WHAT IS GROWTH?

•Redefine the mind set
•Approach to change positively and pro-actively
•Understand why and how we need to grow
•If you are not changing, you are not growing
•Develop an Action Plan to change
CHANGE TO GROW

TWO TYPES OF CHANGE
❑External environmental change (happening around the person or
organisation) e.g. : different equipment, different processes, different
shift patterns, different technology, different tasks, COVID-19
pandemic
❑Internal psychological transition (happening within the
person/organisation) e.g. : different knowledge, different skills,
different values, different feelings, new strategic direction

What is change management
•The process of helping individuals and enterprises transition from the
current state to the desired state.
•Which new leadership skills do you need to develop to be effective
‘leaders of change’?
•What skills do members need to attain the Vision
•What will happen if we choose to stay where we are?

Resistance to change
•Fear of the unknown
•Loss of control – as if losing control of life
•Uncertainty – what will happen if I don’t change
•More work – learn more knowledge, information or develop new skills SO
•Give clear direction to your team
•Communicate effectively
•Involve members in planning and implementation
•Build trust
•Reward members when necessary

VISION AND MISSION
As Humans and Business Entities we out to think of moving from one stage
of life to the other hence it is require of us to document plans for our future.
By doing this we would say that we have Vision. Therefore VISION is a
projection of where we as individuals or business entity would want to be in
a stipulated period of time probably within a year or more.
Your Mission states what you are in for.
For example “ Best Ophar Construction Firm is a construction Industry whose
mission is to Render Quality yet affordable Services in Painting and Designs
across Africa and beyond”

ACTIVITY
In your own words,
Define VISION and MISSION.
WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS AHEAD OF YOU?

STRATEGIES
“Your strategies refers to all the plans and
realistic steps you would like to take to
accomplish or reach your ultimate goal”

MVV
