Introduction – Flyer Part 01 To advertise a sale, promote a business, publicize an event, or convey a message to the community, you may want to create a flyer and hand it out in person or post it in a public location. Libraries, schools, religious organizations, grocery stores, coffee shops, and other places often provide bulletin boards or windows for flyers. You also see flyers posted on webpages or as email messages. 3

Introduction – Flyer Part 02 Flyers announce personal items for sale or rent (car, boat, apartment); garage or block sales; services being offered (animal care, housecleaning, lessons, tours); membership, sponsorship, or donation requests (club, religious organization, charity); and other messages, such as a lost or found pet. 4

Chapter 01 – PROJECT CREATE A FLYER 5 Headline - This colorful, eye-catching flyer announces tour adventures. It is large and colorful to draw attention into the text Body copy- Briefly describes the tours, along with a bulleted list that concisely highlights important tour information. Signature line of the flyer - calls attention to the contact phone number. Page border nicely frames and complements the contents of the flyer.

What colors should I choose when creating documents? When choosing color, associate the meaning of the color with your message: • Red expresses danger, power, or energy and often is associated with sports or physical exertion. • Brown represents simplicity, honesty, and dependability. • Orange denotes success, victory, creativity, and enthusiasm. • Yellow suggests sunshine, happiness, hope, liveliness, and intelligence. • Green symbolizes growth, healthiness, harmony, blooming, and healing and often is associated with safety or money. • Blue indicates integrity, trust, importance, confidence, and stability. • Purple represents wealth, power, comfort, extravagance, magic, mystery, and spirituality. • White stands for purity, goodness, cleanliness, precision, and perfection. • Black suggests authority, strength, elegance, power, and prestige. • Gray conveys neutrality and, thus, often is found in backgrounds and other effects. 36
