Suffix
•A group of letters attached to the end of
a word to change or contribute to its
meaning.
•Examples:

•-prandial

•The suffix -dipsia means “thirst”
•Examples:
•Hydroadipsia
•Oligodipsia
•Polydipsia

Hydroadipsia
•Absence of thirst for water
•Hydro: water
•a: without
•dipsia: thirst

Oligodipsia
•Abnormal lack of thirst
•Oligo: few
•dipsia: thirst

Polydipsia
•Excessive thirst
•Poly: much or many
•dipsia: thirst

•The suffix -prandial means “relating to a
meal”

•Examples:
