3.1 Who were the Tudor kings and queens 1War in 1455 Lancaster York-Two sides Plantegenet family were formed 2 1485-Leader of Lancaster –henry’s army killed Richard Henry Tudor took over and became a king of England Henry VII ended the war between Lancaster &York by marrying Elizabeth 3 henry vII and elizabeth 1509 son king of England Henry VIII married catherine and they had a daughter called Mary born in 1516 Henry VIII had no sons to take over Henry VIII divorced catherine Henry VIII married anne Boleyn Henry VIII they had a daughter Elizabeth but no son Henry VII executed anne Married again Had a son called Edward Jane died Henry VIII married 3 times more Henry’s children and ruled in different times fu

3.2 Tudor Society Gentlemen had 5% population Were the most powerful People in the society, they Gave advise to the king and queen , and help the king and queen to run the country, They were known princes, dukes, Earls and barons and knights . They owned large pieces of land, Lived in large houses . Citizens had 5% population The Citizens Were Also Rich But Not As Rich As Gentlemen Many Were merchants who made money from buying and selling goods such as wool, jewellery , food or cloth. They Lived In Large Town Houses And had servants. The Yeomens The yeomens were farmers They either owned land or rented them from a gentlemen The yeomen sold crops to make money. They lived in a medium sized farmhouse. The Yeomens took 30% of the population. Yeomens employeed people to work for their farms. Labourers The Labourers were poor. Most Labourers lived in the country side and worked on a farm for a Yeoman. Some Laboures owned a small piece of land they also owned few animals. The laboures who lived in town made shoes. They also loved sewing and building furniture. The laboureres took 60 % of the population. Most of the tudor town was labourers.

3.3 Tudor towns The tudor towns were very crowded , noisy , and extremely dirty. Streets were crammed with stalls , shops and more Farmers sold crops and meat 🥩 in large open air markets. many people got new jobs in industries such as glass making , paper making and book printing. Craftsmen often had a shop on the ground floor . houses were built with wooden frame and the roof was made with clay tiles. Servants slept at the top floor , while the family slept at the first floor . people usually dumped their garbage into the streets , the dirty crowd attracted flies and rats .sickness was were common .There was no police in the Tudor society A man called a constable looked out for criminals v, another man called the justice of peace sentenced criminals at court The punishments were : stealing : Hanging dishonest merchants : dragged acrossed streets while everyone throws garbge at them Beggars : Whipped in streets

3.4 Fun And Games In Tudor Times The rich invited musicians to their homes . the rich enjoyed plays and danced to music they enjoyed jousting , chess , hunting and bowling . Poorer people liked playing football the winners were the team that got the ball to the center of the athor village it was very violent watching plays at a theatre was common at the time .the rich sat in covered seats while the poor stood at a open area which was known as a pit .

3.5 what were Tudor schools like ? Rich and Poor Some towns and village had a small school where poorer children were taught to read and write for a few hours each week. These school were free. when children were old enough to help on the farm or learn a trade they stopped going to school the richest families paid a tutor to teach their children at home. Rich children who did not have a tutor went to a grammar school. Children went to school at the age of 7 .the cleverest child went to universities at the age of 14 or 15 , there were two types of universities Oxford and Cambridge.

3.6 tudor potraits All images of tudor kings and queen were either painted or drawn. They controlled each picture so it did not make them look old or weak. They made sure that the artist filled the painting or drawing with symbols that show the kings or queens power, achievements and wealth.
