Difference between ROM and RAM ROM RAM ROM is a permanent memory. The instructions on the ROM remain permanently even if the computer is switched off. The Computer can only Read from this memory. It cannot make any changes to the ROM. ROM stores data and instructions about how to start and control the various parts of the computer RAM is a temporary memory RAM holds data required for immediate processing. RAM is also called Volatile memory since data and instructions stored on the RAM gets erased once the computer is switched off.
