11 A child is considered to be abandoned when: The parent’s identity or whereabouts are unknown T he child has been left alone in circumstances where the child suffers serious harm T he parent has failed to maintain contact with the child or provide reasonable support for a specified period of time Abandonment

12 Substance abuse can begin during the prenatal period. Children can be exposed to drugs in the home Selling, distributing, or giving illegal drugs or alcohol to a child Substance Abuse

18 Child Protective Services responsibilities include: Investigating reports of abuse and neglect of children Providing services to children and families in their own homes Placing children in foster care. Providing services to help youth in foster care make the transition to adulthood Placing children in adoptive homes MSWD and DSWD

19 the National BTS-CSAP Network : The present operational formation includes the “BTS-CSAP Local Resource Network ” composed of the 52 non-government organization partners operating at the municipal level across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao in the Philippines. There are 104 focal persons trained by the project coming from the 52 partner NGOs. In addition, local police officers and social welfare officers were also trained and are now part of the BTS-CSAP Local Resource Network in their respective localities. How Can I Report Abuse , Neglect , or Exploitation ? The LAW says anyone who thinks a child, a person 65 years or older, or an adult with disabilities is being abused, neglected, or exploited must report it to the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of the local police department and Municipal Social Welfare (MSWD) or the DSWD.

Prevention are focused on advocacy direct in the community done by the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of the local police department, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Department of Education (DepEd) in the schools, and the Local Government Unit (LGU) through their Barangay , City, Municipal and Provincial Child Protection Council also known as Local Councils for the Protection of Children (LCPC ).

23 The following professionals and careers are focused on nurturing, teach and protecting children from abuse and other harm that is brought about by other people and the environment Childcare Workers, teachers, social workers, counselors, medical workers and, of course, law enforcers – the police and other officers of the law.
