About This Presentation

VITAMIN D3 IMPORTANCE

Slide Content

VITAMIN-D BIOSYNTHESIS - The major natural source of the vitamin D is synthesis of cholecalciferol in the skin from   cholesterol   through a chemical reaction that is dependent on sun exposure  (specifically UVB radiation ). - Cholecalciferol is converted in the liver to Calcidiol (25-hydroxycholecalciferol) -Calcidiol is further hydroxylated by the kidneys to form  calcitriol(also known as1,25-dihydroxycholecalcifero),the biologically active form of vitamin D . - Vitamin D is converted to Calcidiol in the liver . Part of the Calcidiol is converted by the kidneys to calcitriol, the biologically active form of vitamin D. It circulates as a hormone in the blood, regulating the concentration of calcium and phosphate in the bloodstream and promoting the healthy growth and remodeling of bone.

CHOLECALCIFEROL(VITAMIN-D3) COMPOSITION Cholecalciferol chewable tablets 60,000 IU Cholecalciferol 60,000 IU/1gm Sachet INDICATIONS Fractures Osteoporosis DOSE/DOSAGES 1Tab or Sachet per week for 3 Months

CHOLECALCIFEROL(VITAMIN-D3) -Helps in maintaining calcium level in blood. -Decreases risk of low BMD . -Enhances calcium absorption from intestine. -Stimulates absorption of phosphate and magnesium ions. -Stimulates differentiation of osteoclasts. -Provide proper balance of calcium and phosphorus in bone to support mineralization. -Facilitates calcium absorption in the kidney.
